課程概述 |
In this course, key aspects of human language, a rule-governed symbolic system, will be introduced. In the first half of the semester, lectures will present the internal structure of language, spanning phonetics, phonology, morphology, and syntax. In the second half, related issues such as language learning, language and computers, and the interactions between language use and social or cultural factors, will be covered. |

課程目標 |
This course aims to equip students with basic linguistic knowledge, with which they can apply to describe or analyze linguistic phenomena in their anthropology fieldwork. The role of language in social structure and cultural contexts will also be discussed, so that students can be more acquainted with language-related issues in future anthropological research. |
